This may include:

  • Your name

  • Email address

  • Billing address

  • Delivery address

  • Subscription and renewal dates

  • Subscription status

  • Payment status

  • Renewal and cancellation information

  • Editions for which payment has been received

The legal bases are Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where processing is necessary to perform the subscription contract, and Article 6(1)(c) GDPR, where processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations.

Providing your birth month is optional and is not required to subscribe. If you voluntarily provide it for the purpose of receiving a birthday-related surprise, we process it on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting jen[at]doseofperspective.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect your subscription.

Information necessary for accounting, taxation, or the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims may be retained for the applicable statutory retention periods.

5. Payments through Stripe

Checkout is provided through a Stripe-hosted Payment Link. Payments and recurring subscriptions are processed through Stripe. Stripe also provides the secure customer portal through which you may manage your subscription, payment method, and cancellation.

When you open the Stripe checkout or customer portal, information may be transmitted to Stripe, including:

  • Your name

  • Email address

  • Billing address

  • Delivery address

  • Payment information

  • Any optional information you enter during checkout, such as your birth month

  • Subscription and transaction details

  • IP address

  • Device and browser information

Stripe processes your payment details directly. We do not receive or store your complete card number.

We receive the information required to manage your subscription, such as whether a payment succeeded, the amount paid, your subscription and renewal dates, your subscription status, and identifying information connected to the transaction.

The legal basis for payment and subscription processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Processing required for fraud prevention, payment security, and the defence of legal claims may also be based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

For customers in the European Economic Area, Stripe services are generally provided by:

Stripe Payments Europe Limited
1 Grand Canal Street Lower
Grand Canal Dock
Dublin, D02 H210
Ireland

Stripe may process data through affiliated companies and service providers in countries outside the European Economic Area. Stripe is responsible for implementing the applicable safeguards for such transfers.

More information is available in Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

6. Emails sent through MailerLite

  • Subscription confirmations

  • Welcome emails

  • Payment and renewal information

  • Dispatch or service updates

  • Address and subscription-management instructions

  • Cancellation or withdrawal confirmations

  • Important changes affecting the subscription

To send these messages, we may process your name, email address, subscription information, and relevant communication history through MailerLite.

These are service-related communications rather than a separate marketing newsletter. They are necessary to administer and perform your subscription.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Where an email is required to meet a legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR also applies.

If we introduce a separate marketing newsletter in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and request consent where required.

7. Postal delivery

Dose of Perspective letters are prepared manually.

We use your name and delivery address to address the envelope and send it through the postal system. We do not upload your customer list to a shipping or fulfilment platform.

Your name, postal address, and the information visible on the envelope are necessarily processed by the postal operators involved in delivering the letter, including Deutsche Post and postal services in the destination country.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR because postal delivery is necessary to perform the subscription contract.

Plausible states that its standard service processes and stores data within the European Union.

More information is available in Plausible’s Data Policy.

  • Your name

  • Email address

  • Subscription information

  • The contents of your message

  • Any attachments or other information you send

We process this information to respond to your message and handle your request.

If your message concerns an existing subscription or a request made before subscribing, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For other enquiries, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is communicating with people who contact us and keeping appropriate records of customer-service matters.

Correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed, unless continued retention is necessary for contractual, accounting, legal, or evidentiary purposes.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking on the Dose of Perspective website.

Plausible Analytics is used without cookies.

Technologies that are strictly necessary to deliver the website, complete checkout, process payments, protect against fraud, or provide subscription-management functions may still be used. These technologies do not require consent where they are strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user.

Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies within Stripe Checkout and the Stripe Customer Portal for functionality, security, fraud prevention, and payment processing. Further information is available in Stripe’s privacy and cookie information.

If we introduce optional analytics, advertising, embedded media, or other nonessential technologies in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and introduce a consent mechanism where required.

12. Recipients of personal data

We share personal data only where necessary to operate the website, provide the subscription, comply with legal obligations, or protect legitimate interests.

  • Plausible, for privacy-focused website analytics

  • Postal operators, for delivery of physical letters

  • IT and professional-service providers acting under appropriate confidentiality obligations

  • Public authorities, courts, tax advisers, or legal advisers where disclosure is required or legally justified

We do not sell your personal data.

13. International data transfers

Some service providers or their affiliated companies may process data outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, the transfer must be protected using an appropriate legal safeguard, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Where applicable, providers may also rely on an approved adequacy framework.

Further information about international transfers is available in the privacy documentation of the relevant provider.

14. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

The applicable retention period depends on the type of information and may include:

  • The duration of your subscription

  • The period needed to complete deliveries, payments, cancellations, refunds, or customer-service requests

  • Statutory accounting and tax-retention periods

  • Relevant limitation periods for legal claims

  • Security and fraud-prevention requirements

When personal data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymized unless continued retention is legally required.

If you voluntarily provide your birth month, we retain it while your subscription is active or until you withdraw your consent, whichever happens first.

15. Your rights

Subject to the conditions established by applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data

  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data

  • Request deletion of your personal data

  • Request restriction of processing

  • Receive certain personal data in a portable format

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests

  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

  • Lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

To exercise your rights, contact jen@doseofperspective.com. We may need to request additional information to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

You may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority responsible for us:
