The Tiny Worlds
We woke up to heavy rain. For a few minutes, we just lay there, snuggled inside our sleeping bags, listening to the rain hitting the metal roof of our mini campervan. Drifting in and out of sleep. Wondering if we really had to get up.
Eventually, the rain began to soften. This was our window.
We wiggled out of our sleeping bags and maneuvered around each other as we changed from our pajamas into the adventure clothes of the day. Hands and elbows clanked against the metal walls as we performed our morning acrobatics.
“Ready?” Yvonne asked.
“Born ready!” I replied.

Hey, we’re Jen and Yvonne, happily married, and living in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Yvonne notices the world in photographs.
Years working on cruise ships taught her to look with curiosity at places. She came back to Germany in 2013, met Jen in 2014, and still travels with a camera in hand - internationally, or in their campervan closer to home. Her unedited photographs are the visual heart of every edition.
Jen collects the thoughts behind the stories.
She grew up in Guatemala City and moved to Germany in 2012. Building a life in another country made her curious about the assumptions we carry and what we call "normal." Those observations become the reflections inside each letter, typed on the same typewriter model she learned on as a girl.
Jen tells you what made her stop and think. Yvonne shows you what made her stop and look.
Frequently asked questions
Both editions include Jen’s complete monthly travel story. The E-mail Inbox Edition delivers the story by e-mail and concludes with a written riddle about the next destination. The Original Letter is the complete physical experience, including the typewritten story, Yvonne’s printed photographs, a map, a collectible mystery postcard and a birthday card during your birthday month.
Choose the edition that suits you best: The Inbox Edition costs €7 per month and includes the complete monthly travel story, delivered by email, plus a written riddle hinting at the next destination. The Original Letter costs €15 per month and includes the complete handcrafted experience delivered by post. Worldwide standard shipping is included. Both subscriptions renew automatically each month and can be cancelled anytime before the next payment.
You’ll be charged immediately when you join. This first payment covers your first eligible edition. After that, your subscription renews automatically each month on the same calendar date. For example, if you join on September 20, your first edition will be delivered on October 1. Your next payment will be taken on October 20 for the November edition. You can view your renewal date and manage your subscription through the secure Stripe customer portal. Both editions can be cancelled anytime before the next payment.
Both the Inbox Edition and the Original Letter are sent on the first day of each month. Join by the final day of the current month to receive the following month’s edition. For example, if you join on September 20, your first edition will be sent on October 1. If you join after October 1, your subscription will begin with the November edition. The Inbox Edition will arrive by email on the first of the month. Original Letters are posted from Düsseldorf on that date, so their arrival time will depend on your location and local postal service. International letters naturally take longer to reach their new homes.
Yes. You can cancel at any time through your secure Stripe customer portal. To avoid another payment, cancel before your next renewal date. If payment for an edition has already been collected, you will still receive that edition, and your subscription will end afterward. Instructions for accessing and managing your subscription are included in your welcome email.
Yes. Dose of Perspective is a monthly subscription. After your first payment, your subscription renews automatically on the same calendar date on which you originally joined. Each successful payment covers your next eligible edition. You can cancel at any time before your next renewal.
Mailbox Edition: Shipping and Delivery
Worldwide. Letters are sent from Germany by standard international post.
No. To keep the worldwide price accessible, envelopes travel as traditional stamped mail without tracking. If your letter has not arrived after the expected international delivery window, contact us and we will help.
Yes. You can update your delivery address through your secure Stripe customer portal. Instructions for accessing it are included in your welcome email. Please update your address before the upcoming monthly mailing is prepared. Changes made after an edition has been prepared or sent will apply to a later edition.
Once your Dose of Perspective has been sent, estimated delivery times are: Within Germany: 2 to 3 business days and for International: 2 to 6 weeks. International delivery times vary depending on the destination and local postal service. Since these envelopes are traveling the old-fashioned way, they may occasionally need a little extra time to complete their journey.
Part of the charm of snail mail is the anticipation, but occasionally a letter may be delayed or get lost along the way. Before contacting us, please check your confirmation email to make sure the delivery address is correct. A small typo could be the reason. If your letter has not arrived within two weeks of dispatch in Germany, or within six weeks internationally, email us at jen[at]doseofperspective.com. We’ll look into it with you and, if the letter appears to be lost, arrange a replacement.
